Welcome to Emeritus Professor Tom Miller's Homepage

My professional bio is on the English Department website, and my CV is available below.

This website provides materials on my teaching and research.  I have taught community courses on political rhetoric, graduate seminars on rhetoric and writing studies, and undergraduate courses on rhetoric and human rights.  Some of the course pages on the left are older, so please forgive the dead links.

The top menu bar includes links to a resource page on civil rights and social justice and pages on the leadership workshops that I have coordinated with Ellen Cushman at the Conference on College Composition and Communication.  The Other Projects page includes links to handouts from university and community talks and resources on faculty development that I developed while vice provost of faculty affairs from 2008 to 2018.

My last classes at UA included an undergraduate course on the social justice aspects of the pandemic and a seminar on how the history of rhetoric speaks to current threats to liberal education and liberal democracy. If you have materials to share on human rights or questions about related programs and efforts, please email me.
